this festival wants to continue thinking about our territory, bringing together the social and the cultural realm, the ecological, scientific

and political with the artistic realm, building bridges with other geographically distant realities, by making them “closer” and more understandable, drawing from the work of investigators and scientists

as well as commissions to writers, visual artists, and performance arts creators. Following previous editions where we focused on urgent questions such as the human desertification of the interior (Serra do Caldeirão), or the disfigurement of Algarve’s coastal landscape, our proposal is now to reflect upon the question of segregation and its effects, not from a strictly local perspective but by proposing a broader reflection. Our ambition is to continue to promote the creation of contemporary perspectives on our territory. We are interested in recovering memories, but mostly to reflect upon the way we live nowadays with others. We try not to make a dead letter of what are

this festival goals and that is the reason we present, 33 creations

33 reflections that address the tensions caused by segregation,

works which reflect upon the Palestinian and the refugee situation,

on gypsies and modern slaves, on illnesses that take away our lives

and the world, but also on our colonial history from the 60s and the 70s. we want to remain interventional, timely involved, and inclusive.

Because it’s not enough for us to just cheer and entertain.
