urban landscapes are usually marked by buildings, lines, dimensions, concepts or styles, which define not only the surrounding space, but also the identity of the city and those who inhabit it. Urban space is a physical structure with a life of its own, a surface full of traces, texture, shape and rhythm.

Bio

Luís da Cruz was born in Loulé in 1968. Professional photographer since 1990. He graduated in Photography from the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten University (The Hague, The Netherlands) and holds a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the University of St. Joost (Breda, The Netherlands). He had a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2002-03. Photographer of documentary tendency who has developed a work that explores, in a subjective and critical way, the spaces, uses and behaviours of both urban and rural life, towards a vision that privileges the anthropological sensitivity. Lately he has developed a work with greater focus on the humanized landscape.
