The visit to Quarteira left a succession of screens in a notebook. And unearthed others. Images of childhood. Distances: Winter / Summer, City / Beach, Lisbon / Algarve. It revealed several Quarteiras, divisions, detours, currents. Downtown, People, Cavacos. Descend from the Barrocal. Return from Africa. Migrate to Matosinhos. Several times too. It would be difficult to fix an image, compose a framework that took account of the jumps and connections. It would be even more difficult to cross over to the other side of the images that insisted on tying Quarteira to the idea of summer baths, seaside resort, break. Thus, the text is composed of photographs, accompanied and permeated by them, following detours and flaws in the images themselves. Inside them, between the lines, I found other stops and time travels.
