“The world is always changing. The photo on Google maps of D. Sebastião square is prior to works that have just been carried out. I walked across the square, past people I didn't know. No one noticed me, no one remembered my face. If I stayed a few more weeks maybe people would start wondering about who this stranger was. If I started to go to the same café every day, or if I had a cough and went into a pharmacy, then, the question would arise, why did that guy go into the pharmacy? Who is he? Where does he come from? What does he think? What does he want?
I just wanted to stop the cough and did not even know if, in one of the four pharmacies of S. Brás de Alportel they would give me a monarchical or republican remedy. But I was open-minded, after all I was just a stranger. Everything changed when I asked where I could find the poet Bernardo de Passos.”
